On the last day of July I went downtown to get a new Fuji 35mm f2.0 (50mm equiv) lens for my X-Pro 2. I decided to test it for some Toronto summer street photography right away as I walked out of the store on a sunny day. Using it while walking around the city while I was uncomfortably carrying my other gear and the new box the new 35mm came in. Deciding I didn’t really like the 35mm f2.0 and switched to my beloved 18mm f2.0 (roughly 28mm equiv) near the end of my walk. I sold the 35mm soon after as the 28mm viewpoint is my favourite for street. Perhaps I don’t relate well to the 50mm equivalent view. The 28, 35, and 85 all have a place in my heart, just not the 35/50 mm.

Toronto Summer Street Photography

Toronto summer street photography offers people perspective. Sometime what you see in the street makes you think beyond the image. The two bikes for example. Bike owners have certain things in common, they ride bicycles, they wanted to customize their bikes, and many keep them on the street. But could these two have possibly taken a more different approach of customization to each other? I think not! It would have been great to get each individual standing beside their bike to show the different paths they belonged to.

The chess match. The combatants are looking more like they are meditating than challenging each other. They are level to each other head to head, yet it looks peaceful and calm. Above and between them there is a sign on the wall that states “All IS ONE” this can be taken as a Monism philosophy or from the FullMetal Alchemist. Either seems to be a more accurate description of their situation than having a simple chess match. When I saw the pose and the sign I had to capture that moment.

Friends in a crowd. Sometimes people just don’t give a thought to what is going on around them. Go around.
