Leica Q2 night street photography: walking the streets of Toronto after dark with camera in hand, or any large city for that matter, can often provide amazing opportunities. When darkness falls in a large city, what is only partially seen can become more interesting that what was fully exposed only hours earlier.

Darkness has always had a slightly fearful effect on humankind. That is why every horror film ever made must have a terrifying night scene. What is hidden in darkness sparks the imagination, the unknown is often something to be suspicious of.

A common commuter passageway during the daytime might be imagined as Jack-The-Ripper’s favourite alleyway when the nighttime arrives it. Take your favourite cameras, walk your city at night, use your imagination to locate an appropriate location. The wait for the right subject to enter your scene!

The scene above is one of North America’s busiest train stations shot at night. I waited for many people to pass  in groups until one soul entered the scene.
